These 10 reasons that I am about to share here motivated me to stay with Emirates for 7 years as a flight attendant. It can be difficult to find a job that satisfies you from multiple points of view and motivates you to become better at what you do, but from my perspective, being a flight attendant for Emirates is one of those professions that make you feel like you are contributing through your work and encourages you to continuously develop.
After a friend told me about airlines that do not require a flight license beforehand because they train their attendants after hiring, I went home and Googled: “the best airline in the world.” This is how I found out about Emirates in 2011, just 3 days before attending the recruitment interview. In the 3 days I had available, I read everything I could find online about the company, the recruitment process, and life in Dubai.
So, the first reason I believe Emirates is an excellent choice is that it is one of the best in the world and you will find it among the top 5 in many rankings in various aviation categories.
- Emirates was named “The Best Airline in the World” In 2016, Skytrax, the international program for evaluating all airlines and airports in the world, chose Emirates to award the “World’s Best Airline” prize. If you are thinking of switching careers for a while, why not join the best in the field? This means they are professionals, have experience, new technology, everything is automated and thought out to the smallest detail.
- Emirates is based in Dubai This means you will live in the famous city in the United Arab Emirates, a unique place where Muslim tradition perfectly blends with international influences due to the approximately 10 million expatriates living in Dubai. You will have the opportunity to observe and experience local customs while also enjoying the freedom of a Western country with parties until dawn and diverse restaurants, all taken to a superior level.
- The Emirates network covers over 160 destinations Dubai International has become a major connecting point, currently being the busiest airport in the world for international flights, with a traffic of 90 million passengers annually, surpassing London, Hong Kong, and Paris. This means that every month you will fly to about 8 of the 160 destinations and also be able to easily reach any corner of the world you desire when traveling on your days off and vacations.
- Emirates is a luxury airline Founded in 1985, it is the fastest-growing airline in aviation history. Over time, it has been a pioneer in many aspects, being the first airline to install individual TV screens, including in Economy Class, the first airline to introduce telecommunication facilities for all cabins, the first airline to install fax for passengers on board, the first to order the Airbus 380, the largest commercial aircraft in the world, and also the first to introduce a fully enclosed First Class suite for privacy, with a design inspired by Mercedes-Benz, a zero-gravity seat inspired by NASA, and in-flight dining via video call. Emirates also introduced the possibility of taking a shower on the plane, a privilege accessible only to First Class passengers. As an employee, you will also benefit from some of these sumptuous advantages.
- Emirates offers safety Currently, it is the largest operator of Airbus 380 and Boeing 777 in the world with a fleet of 270 new aircraft, which means a higher level of safety and comfort for both passengers and flight attendants. Since you will spend many hours on the plane, you want the environment in which you work to not only offer safety but also be new, clean, and perfectly functional.
- Cultural diversity Emirates Group has around 65,000 employees, of which 23,000 are flight attendants from almost every country in the world. In 2019, it entered the Guinness World Records for the highest number of nationalities on the same flight, both passengers and cabin crew. It is the airline with the greatest cultural diversity, and this exposure will help you enormously to understand people from different backgrounds, to broaden your horizons, and to grow as a person. On each flight, you will meet between 18 and 30 crew members from different parts of the world from whom you can learn many things, such as interesting customs from their countries or local renowned dishes.
- Unlimited tickets with a 90% discount Every Emirates employee benefits from a 90% discount on an unlimited number of standby tickets for Economy or Business Class, not only for personal use but also for family members (spouse, children). Parents and siblings can also use this benefit but for a limited number of tickets. This discount applies to approximately 90% of airlines worldwide, not just Emirates.
- Attractive salary package Compared to many other airlines, Emirates offers many advantages to its employees. Housing and utilities are free, transportation to and from the airport is provided, the uniform and dry cleaning are also free, the minimum salary is about 9,000 lei with no taxes, per diems for each layover averaging around 2,000 lei per month, accommodation in 4 and 5-star hotels, a dedicated employee card for discounts in various places in Dubai and internationally, and many other benefits. You can find an entire article in the Blog category just about salary benefits.
- You can represent the brand at various important events Emirates is renowned for its sponsorship contracts with various sports teams worldwide, especially the Premier League Arsenal Club, which becomes the longest such contract in sports history. Thus, you will have the opportunity to attend renowned events such as the US Open, Rugby World Cup, or Formula 1, representing the Emirates brand. For these duties, you will travel Business Class to the destination where the event will take place and participate for the entire duration of the event.
- Emirates is an unmistakable brand When the large crew passes through airports around the world wearing the famous red hat with a veil and a perfect smile, it attracts thousands of admiring glances, and it is impossible not to recognize the airline they represent. It is very flattering to be looked at with such admiration, to be asked for photos together, and to be asked about Emirates.
Surely every job has its disadvantages, and being a flight attendant for Emirates is no exception, but it depends on where you choose to focus your attention. For me, being part of the Emirates family was a true blessing from which I learned enormously in a very short time and experienced things that few other jobs offer.
I encourage you to try it yourself and decide whether it suits you or not! You have nothing to lose!
